Mumbai, Oct 22: In a recent development, Mumbai police apprehended two individuals from Haryana on charges of orchestrating a power bill fraud amounting to nearly Rs 2 lakh.
The fraudulent activity traces back to February when the victim received a warning on his phone, threatening to disconnect his electricity connection if he failed to settle the outstanding bill.
The Andheri cyber police, upon receiving the complaint, launched an investigation into the matter. They delved into the account details of the fraudsters, scrutinized transactions, UPI and IMPS logs, and traced mobile numbers involved.
The investigative team successfully located the accused individuals in Phatak and Sadalpur villages in Mandi Adampur, Hisar district, Haryana. Taking swift action, a team from the Andheri police traveled to Haryana and apprehended Navin Bishnoi, 23, a mobile technician from Phatak, and Rakesh Bishnoi, 21, a farmer from Sadalpur.
During the arrest, the police confiscated an iPhone and an Android mobile device from the accused. The arrested individuals were subsequently presented in court, where they were remanded to police custody for a week.
