Pune, Oct 13: A delegation, headed by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray, engaged in discussions with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde regarding concerns related to toll hikes and congestion at toll booths, among other issues. The meeting included residents from housing societies in Mulund and Thane, who presented their grievances to the Chief Minister on Thursday.
During the detailed discussion, the delegation emphasized the need for toll booth contractors to fulfill their contractual obligations, providing essential facilities such as sanitary amenities, ambulances, first aid services, cranes, and maintaining cleanliness in toilets.
Responding to the concerns, Chief Minister Shinde directed Radheshyam Mopalwar, managing director of MSRDC, to conduct inspections of the toll booth facilities along with representatives from the delegation starting from Friday.
In response to the issue of vehicles queuing up to the yellow barrier at toll booths, the Chief Minister instructed the hiring of additional manpower to address the problem. He also ordered the initiation of videography to accurately count the number of vehicles entering and exiting all five toll booths in the Mumbai area.
Taking a proactive stance, Shinde directed a structural audit of the flyovers, bridges, and subways along the toll road to ensure safety.
Addressing concerns about housing for police personnel, the Chief Minister clarified that the state government, along with CIDCO, is working towards a target of 5,000 houses to provide suitable accommodation for the police force.
