Srinagar: Former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti raised concerns on Wednesday, alleging that she was barred from leaving her house due to the visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Jammu and Kashmir. President Murmu arrived in Srinagar for a two-day visit today.
Expressing shock over the situation, Mehbooba Mufti stated, “I’m shocked to know that I can’t even step out of the house to my party office because the President is visiting Srinagar. The right of movement is snapped at a whim anytime,” in a post on X.
This incident highlights the delicate balance between security measures and the fundamental rights of individuals, particularly political figures, during high-profile visits. It raises questions about the necessary restrictions and their impact on the daily lives and activities of individuals residing in the areas affected by such security measures.”
