Srinagar, Oct 12: In a significant development, security forces successfully arrested a militant associate linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba’s shadow group, ‘The Resistance Front,’ in the Ushkara area of Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence regarding militant movement in the region.
On October 10, a joint Naka was established by Baramulla Police, Army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles, Military Intelligence (MI), and 53 Bn CRPF in response to the intelligence input. The suspect, identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Ushkara Baramulla, was apprehended during a naka checking operation.
Upon attempting to evade the security forces, Bhat was tactfully captured. A subsequent search revealed two hand grenades and a cash amount of Rs. 40,000 in his possession. A case under sections UA (P) & Arms Act was registered at Police Station Baramulla, and investigations have been initiated.
