Srinagar: In a historic visit to the Valley, President Droupadi Murmu expressed optimism for a transformative journey towards peace, progress, and patriotism in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a civic reception at Raj Bhavan Srinagar, President Murmu highlighted significant advancements in infrastructure, e-governance, healthcare, housing, women empowerment, tribal outreach, and inclusive development.
The President commended the remarkable increase in tourism, noting that 1.7 crore tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir until September, setting a record. She attributed this positive shift to the ongoing developments in the region.
President Murmu shared her belief that the nation is currently in an ‘Amrit Kaal’ (Golden Period) and envisioned Jammu and Kashmir playing a vital role in India’s development journey, aiming for a developed nation status by 2047.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, President Murmu thanked the people of Jammu and Kashmir. She acknowledged the presence of eminent personalities from the region, praising their contributions to various fields, which have enhanced the reputation of both the region and the country.
Highlighting Kashmir’s rich history in art, culture, and education, the President referenced ancient events, such as the 4th Buddhist Council held 2000 years ago and Shankaracharya’s compositions in Srinagar about 1300 years ago. She emphasized the enduring wisdom found in the words of Lal Dyad and the guidance of Sheikh Nooruddin.
President Murmu stressed the importance of upholding Jammu and Kashmir’s legacy of considering peace and tranquility as supreme. Earlier in the day, she attended the 20th convocation of Kashmir University and engaged with local tribal groups and women’s Self Help Groups at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar.”
